Sesame Street Muppets Bring Joy to Children of Selayang (August 10, 2010)
Elmo and Cookie Monster, two of the Sesame Street Muppets made a surprise appearance at the Selayang Community-Based Rehabilitation Centre on August 10th. A large group of children, parents and center facilitators attended an event organized by the U.S. Embassy in partnership with the MyKasih Foundation and Nischal Creations Live. At the event, U.S. Embassy Information Resource Specialist Harvinder Kaur helped the children learn about Sesame Street, and introduced them to Cookie Monster and Elmo, the two personalities they were about to meet. After a coloring activity, the children met the Muppets in person, as the two made a surprise appearance with help from Mr. Gopinath Suppiah Managing Director of NishchalCreationsLive (Niche Junction (M) Sdn. Bhd.)
U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Robert Rapson and Jeffrey Perera, CEO of MyKasih Foundation closed the event with brief remarks, and Mr. Rapson presented a small collection of children's books on behalf of the Embassy to the MyKasih Foundation. Some of the books and all of the crayons were donated by U.S. Embassy families for use by the children. And of course, everyone had a great time snapping photos with the Muppets!
The Sesame Street Muppets will be coming to Kuala Lumpur for alive performance in September.
