UN Malaysia Awards 2018
MyKasih Foundation received the United Nations Malaysia Award 2018 this morning for significant contributions to Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals. The awards ceremony was held at JWMarriot Kuala Lumpur today, 24 October, in conjunction with the 73rd Anniversary of the United Nations (‘UN Day’). For exemplary leadership in promoting the ‘Leaving No One Behind’ principle and reaching those furthest behind by effectively utilising an innovative technology-driven welfare distribution method to reach large numbers of Malaysians in the B40 category, the United Nations in Malaysia presented the UN Malaysia Award for this category to MyKasih Foundation. Established in 2009, MyKasih is a non-profit organisation that mobilises donor finance from public and corporate bodies towards communities who are most in need. To-date, MyKasih has assisted in the delivery of RM240 million worth of aid to more than 260,000 low-income families and students in over 400 locations nationwide, including in Sabah and Sarawak. MyKasih’s welfare distribution system has been successfully adopted by government ministries such as the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, and state governments such as Sarawak and Johor states to provide directed and targeted aid distribution. MyKasih has also played a crucial role in facilitating partnerships towards Leaving No One Behind. It teams up with companies, NGOs, social-purpose organisations and the public sector to provide health screening, entrepreneurship training and educational assistance to low income families and school-going children. Through its aid delivery and financial literacy programs, MyKasih’s work has been instrumental in assisting low-income families in Malaysia to break the cycle of poverty. For these reasons, the United Nations Malaysia Award 2018 for contributions to ‘Leaving No One Behind’ around the 2030 Agenda and SDGs is presented to MyKasih Foundation, represented by its Co-Founders, Tan Sri Dr Ngau Boon Keat and Puan Sri Jean Ngau.

DIALOG gives Lanjan Tigers a roaring boost in rugby
As an extension of DIALOG Group Berhad’s support in Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Lanjan (Asli) in Damansara Perdana, the company sponsored the Selangor Under-12 Rugby Championship 2018 which the school hosted over the recent weekend of 7th-8th April. The main aim is to provide the school with an opportunity to host a state-level event and expose their students to a higher level of competition. The 188 students of SK Bukit Lanjan hail from economically-challenged backgrounds and are beneficiaries of the MyKasih ‘Love My School’ bursary scheme sponsored by DIALOG since January 2014. In addition to the sponsorship of bursaries, DIALOG has expanded its scope of assistance to the school to include UPSR Study camps, 21st Century Classroom Transformation project (ICT infrastructure enhancements), annual sports carnivals and the edible garden project. SK Bukit Lanjan’s "Lanjan Tigers" under-12 rugby team was born in 2015 as the first, and still remains the one-and-only, Orang Asli rugby team in Selangor. DIALOG began supporting the Lanjan Tigers in 2016 by sponsoring their participation in district-, state- and national-level competitions. This year, DIALOG’s financial support has enabled SK Bukit Lanjan to host a tournament involving 24 teams, out of which, two were reigning champions in their respective districts! Lanjan Tigers proved to be strong and confident competing on home turf and successfully bagged the top prize in the Shield Category. Way to go, Lanjan Tigers! At the closing ceremony on Sunday 8th April, DIALOG Sports Club President, Mohd Qayyum bin Mohd Adnan, gave away the Tan Sri Dr Ngau Boon Keat Championship Trophy to the victorious team – SK Taman Seroja, as well as medals and prizes to the other category winners.
