Rotary Kasih Enters 4th Year
Rotary International District 3300 and MyKasih Foundation signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 26 June 2018 to further extend the on-going Rotary Kasih Student Life Transformation Programme which was launched in November 2014. The Rotary Kasih Programme capitalised on the fund-raising capabilities of Rotary and MyKasih, which saw the matching of donations to a tune of RM 1.7 million worth of cashless bursaries for 2000 students in 16 schools in Malaysia. The student beneficiaries receive monthly cashless bursaries of RM60 (primary student) or RM80 (secondary student) via their MyKasih smartcard to pay for meals at the school canteen, as well as school uniforms, books, and stationery at the school bookstore. The Rotary Kasih programme leverages on the MyKasih cashless payment system which was developed by DIV Services, a subsidiary of DIALOG Group Berhad. Since its inception in 2009, MyKasih has reached out and channelled RM 240 million worth of cashless aid to 260,000 low-income households, including 16,000 students in over 242 schools. In commemorating 4 years of the Rotary Kasih collaboration, both parties (Rotary and MyKasih) renewed their pledge to jointly raise RM500,000 per annum on a matching fund basis to ensure the sustainability of the programme in the Rotary Kasih adopted schools. The MOU signing and mock cheque presentation ceremony was held at SJKT Kajang, a school which has been supported under Rotary Kasih since 2015. MyKasih smartcards were distributed to new student beneficiaries that same day.
