{"id":13437,"date":"2024-04-30T01:20:49","date_gmt":"2024-04-30T01:20:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/editorv3.mykasih.com.my\/2024\/04\/30\/sarawak-unity-education-fund-surpasses-expectations-rm3-57-mln-raised-from-generous-donors-to-develop-talent-human-capital\/"},"modified":"2024-04-30T01:20:49","modified_gmt":"2024-04-30T01:20:49","slug":"sarawak-unity-education-fund-surpasses-expectations-rm3-57-mln-raised-from-generous-donors-to-develop-talent-human-capital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/editorv3.mykasih.com.my\/ms\/2024\/04\/sarawak-unity-education-fund-surpasses-expectations-rm3-57-mln-raised-from-generous-donors-to-develop-talent-human-capital\/","title":{"rendered":"Sarawak Unity Education Fund surpasses expectations: RM3.57 mln raised from generous donors to develop talent, human capital"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2024-04-30-at-6.09.05-PM.jpeg-1024x768.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5352\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Dr Sim (third left) representing Abang Johari at the Sarawak Unity Education Fund (SUEF) launch held at a hotel in Kuching on April 30, 2024.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>KUCHING, April 30: The Sarawak Unity Education Fund (SUEF) has raised approximately RM3.57 million from numerous notable and generous donors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who also serves as the fund\u2019s patron, said that the contributors are private corporations and individuals who have voluntarily given back to society because they trust and believe in the charitable project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Sarawak Unity Education Fund\u2019s launch is timely, as it aligns with Sarawak\u2019s goal of prioritising talent development and human capital, which is critical to the state\u2019s transition to a new economy based on renewal\/green energy, hydrogen, and digital technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe must empower Sarawakian youth and children by providing them with the knowledge and skills they need for long-term growth,\u201d the Premier stated in his speech, which was read by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Sim represented Abang Johari at the SUEF launch, which was held today at a local hotel here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Premier emphasised that the SUEF was established with the primary goal of offering financial assistance to deserving, talented, and needy individuals from all communities in Sarawak so that they could pursue higher education and gain skills at recognised institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe goal is to develop and groom Sarawak talents and young generations to become future leaders and contributors to Sarawak\u2019s progress and prosperity, resulting in a brighter and more sustainable future for all Sarawakians,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the fund\u2019s chairman, Datuk Richard Lee Say Tshin, expressed hope during his speech that the SUEF will continue to receive support, making the fund sustainable and producing high-quality human capital for the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe will set up a website for the public to monitor our progress, or you can contact any of us for more information,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lee also introduced notable dignitaries and officials of the SUEF board and committee members, who are Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Husain, the fund\u2019s adviser; Federation of Chinese Associations of Sarawak president Dato Richard Wee, the fund\u2019s adviser; Dato Wee Yiaw Hin, the fund\u2019s secretary; Datu Laura Lee Ngien Hion, the fund\u2019s treasurer; Deputy Minister in the Premier\u2019s Department (Labour, Immigration, and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala, the fund\u2019s selection chairman;
