Our Story

At MyKasih Foundation, We Believe That
Dignity Is A Right, Not A Privilege

After having piloted the MyKad cashless welfare system successfully in December 2008, and having obtained approvals from National Registration Department, Ministry of Home Affairs, Multimedia Development Corporation and the Central Bank of Malaysia, MyKasih Foundation was born.

Established in 2009 by Tan Sri Dr. Ngau Boon Keat and his wife, Puan Sri Jean Ngau, the values that anchor MyKasih Foundation (MyKasih) are deeply rooted in personal experience. In childhood, Tan Sri Dr. Ngau came to understand hunger—and, just as vividly, the power of a community that cared.

It was only fitting, then, that MyKasih’s first initiative was Love My Neighbourhood — a pilot programme launched with 25 families in Selayang who received more than food; they were empowered with the freedom to choose.

Under this flagship food aid programme, families in need can purchase groceries via an efficient cashless payment system, powered by chip technology embedded in their MyKad.

In 2012, through a student bursary programme called Love My School, the foundation extended its support into classrooms — offering children the chance to participate in daily school life with a sense of independence. Here, the same proprietary technology enabled students to buy meals at the canteen and stationery from the school bookstore. Other enrichment initiatives supported by the foundation include digital literacy, sports development, and STEM education (robotics and aquaponics).

Since then, MyKasih has collaborated with government ministries, zakat agencies, private corporations, and non-governmental organisations — expanding its efforts beyond cashless aid distribution to include health screenings, educational and sports support in more than 100 primary and secondary schools, and livelihood opportunities through skills and entrepreneurship training.

After 15 years, MyKasih’s food aid and school programmes now operate across Malaysia, supporting communities from all walks of life. In addition to managing CSR programmes for more than 20 private sector donors, MyKasih is currently being engaged by the Federal Government to deliver Program Sumbangan Asas Rahmah to 8.1 million recipients.

As the welfare landscape evolves and challenges the way aid gets distributed in an efficient, secure and transparent manner, the foundation remains guided by a simple, powerful belief: when people are treated with care and respect, communities blossom and thrive.

Our Vision

Our Mission

Our Accomplishments

What began with 25 families has expanded into a nationwide movement rooted in care.

Since our pilot Love My Neighbourhood initiative, MyKasih Foundation — a registered tax-exempt organisation — has channelled RM10.4 billion to more than 23 million families and students across Malaysia.

This reach was made possible by the trust of the Malaysian government, as well as corporate and individual donors, who can give with confidence knowing their support reaches those in need via a system that is secure, transparent, and targeted.

All cash donations to MyKasih Foundation are tax-exempted.

United Nations Malaysia Award 2018: Leaving No One Behind

The United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) is a shared blueprint for peace, dignity, and prosperity — for people and the planet. The 17 goals form an urgent, global call to action, guiding collective efforts toward a more equitable, sustainable future by 2030.

MyKasih Foundation’s work aligns closely with this vision, particularly in supporting vulnerable communities through technology-driven aid delivery that upholds dignity and provides choice.

In recognition of these efforts, the foundation received the United Nations Malaysia Award themed ‘Leaving No One Behind’ in 2018, which was presented in conjunction with the UN’s 73rd anniversary.

The award acknowledged the cashless welfare distribution system that is transparent, traceable, and targeted, which has been adopted by ministries, state governments, and corporations as part of their own social responsibility initiatives.

The foundation’s work supports 13 of the 17 goals — from eradicating hunger and
advancing education, to reducing inequality and promoting inclusive economic growth

By bridging public and private sector collaboration, MyKasih brings the SDGs closer to home, one community at a time — with the commitment to truly leave no one behind.
