Orang Asli Children’s
Education Fund

The Orang Asli Children’s Education Fund was initiated by Puan Sri Jean Ngau, MyKasih’s co-founder, in 2015, with a heartfelt intention: to ensure indigenous children are not left behind in the classroom.

For many Orang Asli families, education can be difficult to sustain — not for lack of will, but due to the realities of rural life. This fund was established to support indigenous children enrolled in national schools and those attending after-school classes at community learning centres.

Recognising the community’s unique circumstances, the fund aims to ensure that Orang Asli children — especially those in remote areas — are not left behind, and are given the chance to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.

Today, MyKasih supports 27 Orang Asli primary schools and 9 rural community learning centres, known as Pusat Didikan Komuniti (PDK) Orang Asli.

At these PDKs, strong emphasis is placed on the Ministry of Education’s 5M foundational framework: Membaca (reading), Mengeja (spelling), Menulis (writing), Mengira (counting), and Menaakul (critical thinking).

By strengthening these basics, children gain not only the knowledge but also the confidence to forge the path ahead, on their own terms.
